First your excess water needs to be directed to one area on which you can install some type of barrel or tank that will take the sump pump which is lower than your water levels. Drop the pump into the hole making sure the top is below the top of the barrel. Plug it in. The pump out pipe on your pump needs to be directed to either a drain or to an outside pipe. It would also be good if you could connect an overflow pipe near the top of your barrel just n case your pump fails..
I have had several installed but suggest using a professional plumber unless you are a handyman.
