Toilet: can I replace this Mansfield flush valve with a flapper?

See the white plastic piece in the middle, inner part of Mansfield Flush Valve?? Can I replace with a rubber flapper?

Hello, that white piece looks like the flush valve. There is a lock nut under this under the tank. Reach under the tank a feel for it. In old toilets, it might feel like it's not supposed to come off or its apart of the pipe, but it's not. It'll unscrew. Good Luck,

Yes you can! You will need to replace the Mansfield flush valve with a new flush valve and flapper assembly. Toilet tank will need to be removed. Unscrew the big nut holding the Mansfield flush valve. Install the new flush valve per instructions. Reinstall the toilet tank. The site is just for pics of the flush valve assembly. all theses answers are good but be sure to replace tanks bolts and washers and you might need a new tank handle for the new flush valve. also you should put in a new 45b fill valve

ok, was waaaay easier than last attempt on another toilet. (I THINK cause I seated the sponge gasket between the tank and toilet correctly this time!!) all is together with all new parts and bolts and seems to be working well. !! KNOCK wood for me please, before I JINX it!!
