You could put a small filter on it so that nothing too large goes down.
If it's already clogged, check out this post on how to clear it https://www.hometalk.com/diy/clean/bathroom/clog-drain-10857517
Clog Drain
Put screens across all drains in house...keep the kitchen strainers in place, put a screen over the stopper in the tub or shower. No grease poured down the sink. Don’t let the kids flush thier toys. If you have a garbage disposal unit installed make sure to not over stuff it. Brush out your hair before you shampoo. Get the loose stuff in the brush, not the drain. I picked up a package of drain screens at my local hardware store set of 3 different sizes.
Don't put anything down it that will solidify..........
Once you get it unclogged put baking soda and vinegar down the drain and let it sit. I do this once a week.
