How to clean salt pittings from bronze aluminum window/door frames?

I have a condo with bronze window/sliding door frames facing the ocean and have noticed many pitings of small white salt deposits. I tried to clean off with water and with window cleaner but not really doing the job. Also, how to protect the frame from re-occurring?

Vinegar to clean or Brillo/SOS pads ; you can seal them with varnish,wax with car wax or oil them
Use a good green scrub pad and crud cutter automotive spray cleaner, then use automotive wax on them or spray clear paint. I've also used something called Nevr dull it's a cotton type cleaner in a can and it will leave a film on the areas you've cleaned, amazing stuff. Find it at auto zone type store.
