Can I change the color of my shower door trim?

I'm in the process of giving my bathroom a face lift from its 1970's chrome and white. I can replace the fixtures, faucets and towel racks, door knobs and hinges with the brushed nickle to match the rest of the house... but the glass shower door edges are CHROME. The door is in great shape and I don't want to replace it. Could I mask with blue tape and newspaper and spray paint the trim with stainless steel or brushed nickle tone paint? Any one have experience with this?

Im pretty sure that will be fine. Just make sure there is no moisture in the bathroom or the spray paint will not take hold.

Mask off the room area really well, or better yet, remove the doors and trim and do this outside or in the garage. Make sure the metal is all squeaky clean and USE a metal spray PRIMER! It is so important, as it forms a bond between the metal and the top coat.

I agree with Connie - the primer is the most important step. I would lightly sand it before the primer as well.
