How do you repair blinds that won't open when you turn the wand?

I have two pair of blinds that when I turn the wand they won't open. They are all facing the same direction, no kinks. One is vertical and plastic the other two are horizontal one made of wood the plastic.

Replace them. The gear mechanism has failed.
We have the same problem Linda. Ours are the plastic wood-look. Short of buying new ones, which we don't want to do, we're wondering the same thing!
It's possible that the connections that are attached to the wands isn't threaded through properly. It doesn't have anything to do with kinks in the vanes.
It's been my experience that those are broken , usually by an over zealous child .
Generally, these need to be replaced.
what do i ask for in the store to replace the mechanism?
