I have an old window pane

The problem is the glass is really scratched up, even frosting paint didn't help. Should I get new glass or does anyone know what else I can do instead? I don't know what I'm going to do with it, I just want to make something. Thank you for any help.

Why not do a mosaic on it? Bits of colored glass on a window, glued on using Weldbond is a nice thing to do to an old window. You can find some stained glass patterns or coloring books designs to use. Pick up scrap glass at local hobby stores like Hobby Lobby or a stained glass shop. If you know someone who does stained glass as a hobby, they'll have tons of the stuff.

Or you could simply paint the window in a design of your choice. I've seen seasonal paintings as well as family-centric designs.

Sometimes glass polish covers scratches as long as they are not deep. You would have to remove the frosting paint though. It’s probably easier and would cost about the same to just get a new piece of glass.

    Hope that helps

Transfer your design on the pane and then use Gallery Glass paint. It has different finishes and could probably disguise the scratches

Have you considered a contact paper? You could also use paint to make it look like stained glass.

If the glass is THAT badly scratched, you should replace the whole pane. Its integrity/surface strength has been weakened and could easily crack/break. Even slamming a door could cause it to break. If you can't afford to replace it now, then covering it with contact paper is your safest choice. It does come in some translucent types so that it will let some light in.

Glue on colored glass stones, pretty, when the light shines through or paint with glass paint in different colors and shapes for a stained glass look.
