you will most likely have to fill them in with wood putty. Let dry them sand and paint.

Use Wood filler to fill in the voids and repaint the doorframe.

    Get the cat declawed.

Please do not declaw a cat under any circumstance. I made this mistake many years ago and was crushed when I saw how much the cats were in pain. Recovery also took a long time. If someone removed your finger and toe nails you would suffer the same pain as the cats.

Buy cardboard scratching boxes. They are everywhere. The best priced ones are at Trader Joe's stores. They cost $3-4 less, plus they are wider than what is stocked in other stores. They have the same quality as the more expensive ones. I have hardwood floors on my main level, but I have never found scratches on the floors. I just buy two or more and place them around the house where my 3 cats like to hang out. Also they sell nail caps at various pet stores that you glue on.

  • Sand down, fill with wood putty, lightly sand again and repaint. I have 6 cats and several scratching items for them so they do not ruin the house, furniture or carpet.
