How can I or better yet what can I do to the treads on my stairs?

I sanded the existing stairs I had to use some wood filler ...I have tried several products from the local hardware store but I haven't had any luck penetrating the wood filler to match the stain.................

Hi Donna. It is hard to get the wood filler to take on the same color as the wood when staining. You could try to mix a little of the stain with the filler. That should darken it up. Good Luck!
Hi Amanda thanks for the tip...going to give it a try ...I don't like to remove good wood just because of a few flaws...thanks again... such a waste
Hi Donna, so many ideas for you to try, hope this helps you out, have you though of just painting them? Or you can apply a peel and stick to them, that way the wood still stays the same.
