If you are at the bottom of stairs you can use a trim called shoe mold trim or a quarter round trim to cover your cut ends. Flooring stores usually carry most stain colors to blend with your floor. If your at the top you need stair nosing to put on the edge of your top edge and run your flooring tight into it. You need it to be flush with flooring also get at flooring place. Hope this helps.Helpful Reply -
