Tip: I Always Buy Silk Flowers and "plant" Them in the Moms Planters.

It always spruces up their front porches. They appreciate it even tho they wouldn't do it themselves. Dollar store flowers last at least two seasons.

    what's a Mom's planter?

    • Paulette Paulette on Feb 07, 2017
Both my mother and mother-in-law have brick planters built onto their front porches. You can put real flowers in them, but both of them are too elderly to care for anything. I get silk flowers at Dollar tree and plant them twice a year, spring/summer and Christmas. The flowers last about two years if swished in soapy water. My mother still has some real flowers in her backyard, that I get to take care of. But I'll do whatever gives her joy at this stage of her life and as long as she can stay in her own home. I hope I answered your question.

Thank you Dalethomason. I enjoy driving up and seeing the flowers, even in the gray of winter in WI.

All of you have inspired me to take some "flowers" to my Hospice patient (dementia) to remind her someone cares! Thank you!
