if newly painted in flat paint...wipe with damp cloth and vinegar til you see some wood beneath ..looks like it got sanded -

it`s to make it look sanded if it is newly painted with flat paint...gives distressed look -

Vinegar is a gentle acid. That's why you can erase paint with it.
