How to dispose of old encyclopedias?
I wound strips of ribbon, lace, etc to organize.
Carefully take the center out and decorate them however you like and use as coasters. I've done it myself.
the first thing that comes to mind is to make fake pulleys out of them. Glue two together, use rope to hang pictures. Have not tried this. You could be the first 😁
Tina: Hopefully you can find a good idea here. HAVE FUN!

I think you could make a uniquely textured lamp base. Glue them into a stack. Paint them any color you like. Run a wire through the holes and add a lamp socket to the top. Add a bulb and shade and it could look really neat.
I covered mine with pretty scrapbook paper, then glued some floral moss on top and then find some cute miniature animals, etch and glue them on. I used a pretty ribbon around the area of the spool. The possibilities are endless. Have fun.
Put a little hole in the top of each spool and you could store your extra beads, pearls, small rocks......then put the whole 8 on a dowel. Glue one of whatever the spool holds.....so you can see at a glance of what is inside the spools.
Make lovely little boxes out of them:

Great for holding any little gift!
Consider decopauge. maybe Christmas paper, or beautiful floral paper, glue a piece of ribbon and hang as ornaments
Thank you for all the wonderful sugggestions. I will post the final project(s) when I get them done.
I just got here and thought they would make a lovely mobile. Paint or decorate with paper or fabric, tie then with rope, ribbon, or fishing line and hang.
I take the circle parts off and use the rings to make bracelets, mobiles also a ring toss game for toddlers - I used a paper towel roll and glued three of the circles that I had removed to one end of the roll to make it stand up. Pain - let the kids paint everything and then they can try to toss the rings on the post.
Id spray them metalic colors n then with sealer and hang them in my garden..be pretty wen the sun hits them
