You know we feed the birds here and I actually never thought of that even as a decorative aspect. Thank you for this suggestion. We actually have pine here as well.

Make corner floating shelves with those triangles. Do you have a table that could use a fresh top? Cut the other scraps into small squares- 1x1 or 2x2, stain several different colors then adhere them to a table top. Finish up with varnish, or finish of your choice.

Shelves would be fun or you could make gift boxes and use them for Christmas gifts.

Make wooden toys like a Jacob's Ladder or a do - nothing machine. Or wood solitaire puzzles like fox and hens. I used to check out a library book about making mountain folk toys. At this site are many plans for folk toys and modern toys: https://allcrafts.net/woodworking/woodtoy.htm My dad made a climbing bear which is as simple as drilling offset holes at the paws of a cut - out teddy - bear form and attaching strings through it to a bar at the top. A ring at the top bar can allow it to hook on a round dorknob to play with.

A useful tool is a Skyhook. It is simply a hook carved of wood with a slot carved at the bowl end. Put the strap of your purse in the slot and it will hold your purse on the table at a restaurant. Here's an example below at the website. It is a one - piece item, and by looking at it, you can see the general shape of it. Easy to carve, especially on a scroll saw. Place the point on a table and slide the strap in the slot, leaning the strap toward the point. The center of gravity of the purse will hold it in place. (probably best to put the strap in, first.) You can even balance it on your finger. https://www.etsy.com/listing/468474691/wooden-sky-hook-balancing-toy
