Here's one idea using a glass picture frame. A wooden frame would work just as well as the metal one used in the video.

i found this for a bed table so you could flip it around and make that side look better maybe and give it dual purpose. Also the hangers are wide enough you could lay narrow slats glue together and attach them onto of mail part of wooden hanger
