I have an old porch swing inherited from my mother but no place to hang it.

Pinterest has some very interesting ideas to attach the swing to make it a free-standing .

You can put legs on it to make it a bench, or a glider base to make it a glider. Or you can build a swing frame for it.

If you have a garden area , make it part of it. In a corner . By a water feature or as a flower planter if you can't use it.

Many home improvement stores sell "swing set brackets" that can be used to easily build a frame to hang your swing from. I did this in my yard and it made a wonderful place to sit with my morning cup of coffee and newspaper. My memories of visiting my grandparents and their porch swing prompted me to do this when I had my own yard.

I did this. Hung it under my deck

If you have room inside, paint it and add comfy cushions for an adorable reading nook for kids. You could build/buy legs for it and make it a garden bench. With the right legs (or perhaps drawers for storage?) and cute paint job, it could a lovely day bed. Maybe set into a window seat?

Thanks to everyone for your suggestions. I will be making either a daybed for my granddaughter or planter bench.
