We have a similar problem with our dining room. We started our seedlings and they are all spindly and tall with very little leaves, which is a sign of too little light. We are thinking of making a "grow corner" with artificial lights. We have a large window, but it's shaded by this huge tree. Not cutting the tree down. Repainting walls glossy white to reflect all light sources back into room. Or, some sort of metallic reflective wallpaper would reflect even better.

Don't know what kind of scenery you have, but we generally skip any window coverings.

    Hi Donna,

Have you considered using sheer curtains? You could install vinyl shades to pull down when you want privacy, and still have the option to let in plenty of light when you open them.

You could use a some privacy film with a pretty pattern on the windows and then hang sheers to compliment your room. It would let a lot of light into your room. Maybe too much light in the early morning if you want to sleep in!

I have sheers on windows where plants are sitting. South windows and North windows.
