Z on Oct 12, 2015I would suggest checking out your local IKEA stores for their awesome closet systems. They are reasonable and well thought out for space planning. Here's a link you might want to check out. http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/categories/departments/bedroom/bedroom_storage/Helpful Reply

Darla on Oct 13, 2015It's not hard to make "built-ins" from cabinets or dressers and plywood that you have cut at the store. You can probably get used cabinets or dressers from Freecycle or ReStore for low cost or even free.Helpful Reply

B. Enne on Oct 13, 2015Check this Canadian Ikea planning page: http://www.ikea.com/ms/en_CA/rooms_ideas/splashplanners.html Ikea staff are really helpful when it comes to storage issues. They really optimize vertical space, and the systems don't need to look like closet units. You can spend as little or as much as you want, and add to them bit by bit. Since most of the Ikea stores in Canada are in the GTA, you should have no problem finding one close to you. I had a closet designer come in, and the price was ridiculously high for laminate, that was thinner than what Ikea had. They also told me that 1 foot of leftover space I had was useless. At Ikea, they had numerous suggestions for the those 12 inches. They gave me many scenarios from which to choose, and it was so much cheaper in the long run. You can even use kitchen upper cabinets as storage benches, and use drawers for bed bases. Good luck!Helpful Reply
