Rustic Style Kitchen Hood Using Pallet Wood

If you love rustic creations as much as I do, you’ll love today’s topic, pallet wood adds a rustic style to kitchen hood. One day, I stumbled upon a hood on the show Fixer Upper on H.G.T.V. I was smitten! The kitchen was rustic and had all the colors and elements I wanted.
It was like they were reading my mind.
Well…almost.
The hood was rustic and simple. It reminded me of an old farm shoot or something you would see in an old factory.
I grabbed a piece of paper and drew out a rough drawing before heading to the store. I find it easier to make a list so I don’t forget anything, or at least not as much.

While at Home depot, I decided to build the hood frame using purchased wood. I wanted a uniform frame to start out with and my pallet stash wasn’t going to cut it.

I purchased furring strips, studs, and moldings before heading home.
After building the hood frame, I used pallet boards for the front and sides to give it texture and the rustic appearance I fell in love with.

The grain in the pallet wood is outstanding. It really gives the hood a rustic appearance and texture.
