I was given a bay leaf plant in a 4 inch pot and I replanted in a large 5 gallon pot.

Kit K on Dec 28, 2011Hi Debbie, I don't know if you were looking for comments on your post but you might want to reconsider the pot size. Transplanting from a 4" pot to a 5 gallon pot your tree will spend most of it's time building a root system without much growth above ground. I like to transplant up one or two pot sizes to encourage root and top growth. It also gives you the opportunity to prune as it grows. Are you planning on planting it outdoors at some point? Good luck with your little plant. Here's hoping she grows into a productive tree for many years to come. Bay leaf is so good to cook with. Happy New YearHelpful Reply
