Hiding a kitchen vent

I am running down a list of projects that need doing...top on the list is a repaint of the house, change out the counter tops in the kitchen, and if money allows...replace my Jenn Aire flat top electric stove with a gas stove. I have not been pleased with my Jenn Aire considering the cost, and do not want another JA ( the downdraft worked great...but that's all). Anyway my cabinets are in great shape so there is no need to replace them....however, how would I hide a 4 ft vent pipe above the cabinets?. My ceilings are 12 ft high and the cabinets only go up 8 ft. I am not looking to just do a sheet-rock box...because I think it would stick out like a sore thumb. Any Ideas? I will post a pic later today.

Painting it the same color as your walls will make it blend in, and become less noticeable. You could also wall paper it, or ,stencil it, etc..., to make it an unusual feature.

Tall vase with a spray of greens. Fake cabinet doors to match existing cabinets. Maybe large art piece- like a chalkboard. Just a few ideas.

I would suggest finding an art piece, painting, or something that complements your design or taste. Then build the box around the vent to the size needed by the piece, or larger, and hang the art piece. It doesn't have to be expensive, just something you like. Four feet is a lot of space, I think I'd be inclined to enclose it with doors and have all that lovely storage for rarely used items! Keep us posted on your decision, and put pictures on here.

Found out I could pipe through wall if I gave up upper Cabinet shelf in cabinets to right of stove.
