If anyone has feedback/advice about any general contractors/remodeling companies in the area it would be greatly appreciated. Looking to do a whole house remodel and possible addition. Thanks!

I highly recommend Woodybuilt Homes (.http://www.woodybuilt.com/contact.php). He just completed a complete tear out/expansion of my kitchen, laundry room with other small changes in my living/foyer area. Deck/outdoor room addition. We are thrilled. Check out the photos on my profile.

Beth I have found good general contractors the same way I found repairmen--through personal recommendations. Talk to your friends and neighbors.
  • Beth, here's a listing of Hometalk member remodelers in your area: http://www.hometalk.com/?industry%5B%5D=68&zip=27609&search=contractor

Beth, there are many really great local people that can help you. I would suggest asking your friends, neighbors, colleagues for their recommendations to start. Before you meet with anyone, define specifically what you want to do and that includes how much you plan to budget. Good luck to you.

I would contact Angies List or service magic for help. But first rule I learned the hard way is to get everything in writing kind of step by step, ask what to expect and do not I repeat do not assume they will clean up their mess. Ask them will you have to show them what they are to clean up. What is important to you is not necessarily important to them. Expect the unexpected and stay a step ahead.

I would agree with Barbara and would add that having an agreement in writing is very important.
  • Check with your local NAHB , NARI, NHA and stick with referrals from friends and family! Work with a contractor who has gone through the process of qualifying themselves with all associations and has all the proper licensing! These associations and educations we put our self's through is not just to "puff" our shirts out, its to make sure that we are up to date on everything and are giving you the homeowner the best we can be! Hope that it all works out well for you, would love to see the end result!
