Chris D on Jan 04, 2012they're almost like pressboard of some kind with a light coating made to look like woodgrain, but it washes off when you wash it a little hard. in a manufactured home and I hear they don't use the best when they build these.Helpful Reply

Madilyn on Jan 16, 2016I did a crackle finish on my mom's BATHROOM cupboard doors. It turned out great. I used "pre-made" crackle from Lowes and I believe it was about $16 a quart a few years back. You only need a thin coat so a little goes a long way and since I only had 4 doors and one drawer front I had plenty. If your kitchen is large you might want to use Elmer's glue instead of the "pre-made" stuff. I am sure you can find a "recipe" for making it on the Internet. Make sure and do a sample board first to play with the amount of paint you want to show through. You can vary the crackle by how much you put on or how long you wait.Helpful Reply
