You can try a paste with baking soda and oil. Rub on and leave until the residue starts to lift and then wash off with soap and water.

I Have had great results with Goo Gone. There was a label I wanted to keep, and I covered it with packaging tape, the began peeling away at the sides. Using the Goo Gone on the label caused the label to peel away from the glass. I did use a blade to keep the label intact, but anything oily will help the label come off. Hope this helps.

Assuming you or some member of your family isn't allergic, creamy peanut butter. Lather it on, leave it for an hour or so (or longer), wipe off, then wash. I've used this method with great success and rarely have had to repeat. I like this method because it doesn't damage the finish or remove paint from hard surfaces, like furniture, cabinets, vinyl flooring, etc.

I've had luck soaking th bottles in warm, soapy water and they usually peel or scrape off pretty well. If their sticky, try nail polish remover or Goo-Gone.
  • Rubbing (Isophyl) alcohol works too on many types of labels. Most times i run something through the dishwasher and right away go and get it and peel the sticker right off.

Soaking the bottle in warm soapy water get's most labels off, but for some wine bottles this doesn't work, I've had to use a razor to get some of them off followed by alcohol. Another technique for removing labels is to hold the label over a candle or cig. lighter flame, peel off while warm.

I soak them in hot water until I can get most the label off, then peel them off as much as I can, then I use AVON Skin So Soft, 'original' bath oil, and just spray it on a paper towel and rub until it's gone, it works great, like Goo Gone. I use it in summer to keep the ants off the outside cat dishes, works great for mosquitos too. Kind of all purpose, but I use it all the time to remove the goo left when you get the labels off, any kind of label.

WD-40. Spray on the label. Wait a few minutes and it should come right off with a little tubing. WD-40 will disolve the glue.

Hi Betty, WD-40 or Surgical Spirit will remove the sticky glue residue. I’ve also heard great things about Goo Gone
