Erica Glasener on Jan 30, 2012Gail, I think your primrose is a hybrid Primula x polyantha. For a species that is hardy and persistant in the garden you may want to try Primula kisoana. Here is a link with a photo and more info, it may be better able to tolerate heat and humidity and is a perennial. http://munchkinnursery.com/default.asp?q_areaprimaryid=5&q_areasecondaryid=10&q_areatertiaryid=14&q_areaquaternaryid=10Helpful Reply

Marcia on Feb 23, 2016Its a primrose. Blooms in the cool of spring and dies back once the hot weather starts. Its a true perennial (though many vendors at bog box stores mark it as an annual. They're in business to sell plants). snails and slugs love them.Helpful Reply

Lovesunique on Aug 07, 2016I am in California and grow these. They do die out if it gets too hot or they don't get enough water. But sure enough, come Spring, they start popping up. They have so many colors to choose from and make a great splash. I still have some showing because they have been watered. Snails love them and earwigs too!Helpful Reply
