repotting

KMS Woodworks on Apr 19, 2013was it under watered? I like to mix dry potting soil with water and knead it well. once the new soil is damp...it does not repel the water like very dry potting mix. The dry soil repels moisture due to the surface tension of the water, adding bit of a surfactant can help "wet" the water and reduce this surface tension...a drop or two of dish soap will help.Helpful Reply

Patricia W on Apr 19, 2013It may have shocked when you replanted it. Id give it some time, light and make sure it gets a good watering. Also, did you replant it in a container one size up from the last container? Was it root bound?Helpful Reply

Debbie Borthwick on Apr 19, 2013Your plant looks like an Aralia, make sure it's not near a door or window, they don't like drafts. It also looks like it is inside another container, after watering make sure to pour out the excess water after about 15 minutes. Try the aspirin trick, dilute 1 1/2 80mg dose aspirins in 2 gallons of water, give it a good soaking (but don't let it sit in the water). And, make sure it dries out between watering, and hold off on fertilizing for a few weeks till it's over the shock of transplanting.Helpful Reply

Marsha on Apr 19, 2013Debbie I had it near an open window and it looks worse then it did when I took the picture. I moved it right away.. It's such a beautiful plant I would hate for it to die. Patricia: When I replanted it I thought it would be root bound but it wasn't. I only went up one size.Helpful Reply
