Spiffed-up Spaces on Feb 16, 2012We have a Samsung that we purchased about 2-3 yrs ago at Lowes.. They have a high rating and we have been pleased with ours.It has two ice makers - one on the door and one in the lower freezer that pulls out. Our model is not stainless, but they do make stainless ones.Helpful Reply

3po3 on Feb 16, 2012I know this doesn't answer your question, but just throwing in my two cents. Refrigerators are a major part of your energy bill, and fridges without water or ice dispensers on the door are substantially more efficient.Helpful Reply

Woodbridge Environmental Tiptophouse.com on Feb 16, 2012Side by side refrigerator is the worse at energy savings. Also the amount of space that they provide is not that good for the size of the entire unit. Look more into this before you spend all the money on this type of unit. We have a Whirlpool. It works great and all, but stinks as holding enough in freezer area. We had to purchase a 2nd freezer just to hold the extra stuff.Helpful Reply

Lin R on Feb 17, 2012We have a side by side and I do not like it at all. There is not enough room in the freezer. My friend has a Kenmore french door fridge and it does not have enough room for her food in the fridge or freezer and she has an extra freezer and fridge. I agree with Woodbridge. Be sure this is really what will work for you. They look wonderful, but just are not that roomy. Good luck.Helpful Reply

Designs by BSB on Feb 18, 2012French doors are REALLY popular here in Atlanta! Perfect solution for those tired of the typical side by side models. I have a KitchenAid side by side and hate it with every ounce of my being. From my perspective/training, there are not a great amount of variables from one brand to another of the french door refrigerators- in fact, Amana is making a great deal of them even for other manufacturers (so Im told). LG seems to be the most popular because of their freezer drawer at the bottom also tips forward - VERY nice feature when you are reaching for a little ice or other small item. Do your homework looking at reviews and pay close attention to model numbers as they can vary greatly to what you see at home centers v.s. your local appliance dealer (I recommend buying from the latter!).Helpful Reply

Judy on Jul 19, 2015We have a Samsung with two doors and two drawers, one a quick to get to items and other is bottom freezer. We have ice, both cubes and crushed, and water in the door. Like the way the shelves inside can be folded up to have more "tall" space. Love it! love it!.Helpful Reply
