Simple Back-splash for Small Sink

Is the gap between your old china sink and the metal medicine cabinet just too long a distance to keep clean and nice? Here is our solution.
Measure carefully in order to cut the pin board paneling stopping short of the cabinet above by two inches. Tracing the contour of the sink onto newsprint to transfer to the panel for cutting may save you time and assures a closer fit.
We caulked around the sink once the board was in place. Thin slats were used to trim it out on the sides and a 2x2 at the top. We still had an inch of height to fill, so I chose a 1x3 to be a perfume shelf that extends from the wall edge out past the back-splash to rest upon a wall cupboard that resides next to this.
