Douglas Hunt on May 13, 2012Yes, it is definitely lantana. While they are perennials in Florida, Kate, I've often seen them used in planters and hanging baskets up north so you could at least enjoy the flowers from now through your first frost.Helpful Reply

Glenda on Aug 09, 2015Definitely lantana. Definitely not primrose. You will notice a distinctive smell from the lantana leaves. Comes in several colors. Butterflies and other pollinators love these, but I understand the hybrid plants (bred for color and plant size) don't have pollen, so they don't attract the insects as much, if at all.Helpful Reply

Glenda on Aug 09, 2015Forgot to say that yours is an original variety, which attracts butterflies, etc.Helpful Reply

Becky Dunbar on Aug 09, 2015Yes, plant is a Lantana. I have one and it needs cutting almost down to the ground in early winter. In the late spring it will come back bigger and prettier. Mine spreads out about 4-5 feet and is 4 years old. Water a few times in the winter. Hope this helps.Helpful Reply

Linda Owens on Aug 10, 2015Lantana is very hardy and drought resistant. Some people don't like its smell, but I like it. It spreads on its on and is easily started from new plants. Mine came from an older home and many people have got started from the plant. It stays blooming all summer and just needs to be cut back to the ground before Spring.Helpful Reply
