Douglas Hunt on Jul 14, 2013Ornamental cherries are particularly prone to bark splitting, Anna. Resist the urge to put pruning paint or any type of dressing on the splits. Trees are usually able to repair such injuries on their own, although the splits can provide entry points for an opportunistic fungus.
