S137 on Aug 10, 2013It looks like a kind of smartweed or Ladysthumb. Definitely a weed. I have a ton of it, too. Last year, I noticed that we had what I think was Ladysthumb and our chickens liked to eat the seeds. Here are some links for you: o http://courses.missouristate.edu/pbtrewatha/pale_smartweed.htm o http://courses.missouristate.edu/pbtrewatha/ladysthumb.htm o http://www.apples.msu.edu/pennsmrtweed.htmHelpful Reply

Judy on Aug 12, 2013This is what I know of as Poke... http://www.ppws.vt.edu/scott/weed_id/phtam.htm Not sure what the first one is, but don't think it's Poke. I have seen it growing a lot. The second is what we have always called Lady's Thumb...a wildflower/weed.Helpful Reply

LaVerne DeHart on Aug 12, 2013The first one climbs on everything in my yard and if not removed, chokes out good plants and they have puff-balls that insures their life, that surface in the fall. The second picture I stuggled with that question myself but I now know they are weeds. if they are growing in a field I'd let them be because of the pretty pink flowers but otherwise...get rid of them, they multiply very fast!Helpful Reply

Cyndi Neumann on Aug 29, 2014The second picture is a very invasive plant. I got some and have been pulling it from my garden all year. It has the beautiful pink seed heads that bloom in fall, but it takes over everything! I would never plant it again! and, I don't know the name.Helpful Reply
