Help ID this plant
Does anyone have advice for watering a plant like this? I don't want water to settle and rot the foliage.

Ljgordon on Sep 14, 2016Sure looks like aloe. I've had one for many years. Keep it out of direct sun and water as needed. Give the babies away or you will be swamped. Great for many things. Look it up on the internet.Helpful Reply

Gene Miller on Sep 14, 2016I agree with Ljgordon. It dies not take a lot of watering as it is in the cacti class and notice the stalks (sic) they are full of water.Helpful Reply

Janet Pizaro on Sep 14, 2016Agreed with others. Do not overwater. Like all succulents water is retained in the thick ness of the leaves. When the soil feels dry to the touch give a drink with tepid water.Helpful Reply

Cristinaholly on Sep 15, 2016It certainly looks like aloe! As for watering it, never pour water in the pot. Put the pot in a saucer or some similar vessel and always pour water (preferably distilled water) in the saucer. The plant will then absorb only the amount it really needs.Helpful Reply

Kim on Sep 15, 2016Watch it. If the leaves are staying plump & green you're doing good. If they start shriveling up it needs more water. Pull out some of the small ones (gently!) & give them their own pot.Helpful Reply

Marcia on Sep 15, 2016Its an aloe but I don't think its aloe vera. Aloes are a very large succulent family. Aloe vera usually has spotted leaves and has a more upright open growth pattern.Helpful Reply

Uca7959677 on Sep 15, 2016In my experience with these types of plants (succulents, cactus and orchids) is to place is to watch for the leaves to show signs of lack of water. When you see this place them in the kitchen sink or bathtub, spray or turn on shower With moderatly warm. Water by misting them for a whale, turn off the water let them sit to drain, your good to to go till next time.Helpful Reply

Lee Govan on Sep 16, 2016I agree with Marcia, yes it is an aloe, but not aloe vera, the varigation (spots) are missing. Try googling aloes + imagesHelpful Reply
