Larry Chura on Sep 26, 2016It all depends on how much work you are willing to get in to and what you want to do. I personally would paint the walls a lighter shade of maybe yellow to brighten up the kitchen. I would repaint the cabinet doors to a two tone. The center a darker brown and the lath looking edging a bright yellow. I would also install low voltage LED lights above and below the cabinets. Dramatic enough to be noticed but soft enough to not scream!Helpful Reply

Larry Chura on Sep 26, 2016Almost all of your wiring will be 14-2 with ground. When you change any of the electrical, make sure that the person you are buying from knows that it is a manufactured home. The same goes double for the plumbing. Go to a good hardware store to get the right stuff. Sadly, most home improvement store clerks are lacking in knowledge.Helpful Reply

Wowhavs on Sep 26, 2016Pic of the rest of the kitchen would be very helpful. 1. Fix layout. If island gets in the way (as mine did), maybe it can be moved to form a penninsula with breakfast bar (after removing & replacing top). 2. Replace the sink with large farmhouse sink. 3. Replace faucet. 4. Cabinets are awful. Replace or paint and add beautiful pulls. (Cream) 5. Use Giani Granite to paint counter tops to look like granite. 6. Replace flooring with WATERPROOF wood grain Traffic Master vinyl click-together flooring. 7. Cover popcorn ceiling (Do this first). 8. Replace pantry door with a door with glass panel center. (You can make glass frosty with spray paint.) 9. Install floating shelves between window and cabinets. 10. Install a glass tile backsplash. 11. Find a better place for the microwave. 12. Paint the walls a grey taupe. 13. Upgrade the appliances.Helpful Reply

Linda Johnson on Sep 26, 2016Hi Lyse, I like the look of your kitchen. The only change I might make is to paint the cupboards white. That would reflect a lot of light, making your kitchen look brighter and larger. Then you can accent it with colorful accessories to make them "pop."Helpful Reply

Pat Ruge on Sep 27, 2016Actually there are three things that strike me as being high priority items. 1) the ceiling - do a search right here on hometalk ("ceiling tiles over popcorn") to get the ideas rolling. 2) the green paint - change to reflect you. One secret I learned about changing colors is to go to your closet and notice the one color that stands out more than any other. That will be the color that speaks to you. 3) the island seems to be very awkward. Can't really see eno to know if it needs to go or just redone to all one level and space permitting, include a bar stool area for eating.Helpful Reply

Jen8165343 on Sep 28, 2016I agree with Linda Johnson, paint the cupboards white (bright white). All of your large appliances are white, so it would look sleek. Also, clean of your countertops by putting all those appliances in the cupboards because it looks cluttered to me. Clean countertops look so much more spacious.Helpful Reply

Swinnen Lisette on Sep 28, 2016What strikes me the most are the ceiling and the color of the wall. Personally I like the color of your kitchen cupboards. Get the popcorn off the ceiling is easier said than done. I would start with painting the walls in a color that goes with the brown. I would choose white because it is a good primer for later. New curtains? And like said above : all the things you don't need every day (the waffle maker?) I would put on the ground in your very handy closet.Helpful Reply
