Any ideas to refresh a mobile home ceiling with plastic rosettes on it

My 1980s mobile home ceiling has rough popcorn and plastic rosettes that have yellowed over time. It also has brown wood trim pieces covering the joints. Any thoughts on how to update it? Should I just paint it all or try to remove them? I don't know if they are holding the ceiling in place since they have screws in them.

Tami, This is what we did: we removed the strips, then painted the ceiling with ceiling paint. Then we placed strips of trim found in the pvc trim department that are approx 1" wide, ¼" thick and 8' long. Using construction adhesive, we glued the strips where the dark ones were. These are not structural, they just cover panel joints. Lastly, we bought packs of new white rosettes and replaced them one at a time with a drill and screws. Amazing difference!
