Michelle on Oct 24, 2016I have one of these in my back yard and now as of the weekend also in my front yard. I know it as the candlelabra. I have seen one as a beautiful big bush with these bright yellow flame blooms. They give many seed pods and thus are able to reproduce beautifully. It tolerates our southmost Texas heat very well but I do keep it watered regularly.Helpful Reply

Ann on Oct 25, 2016Popcorn Cassia is a member of the Cassia family. Its botanical name is Cassia didymobotrya. It is deer repellent, drought tolerant, can be planted as an annual and self seeding. Blooms are yellow, normally grow about 2 in diameter and produce a buttered popcorn scent. The mature flowers take a clustered form. A type of flowering legume / flower, it mainly grows as a perennial plant - which means it typically grows best over a long period (from 3 years+). Normally growing to a mature height of about 8 feet, Popcorn Cassia grows with a shrubby habit. This plant tends to bloom in mid summer. Popcorn Cassia is a great plant to attract butterflies, bees and birds to your garden. Kenya is believed to be where Popcorn Cassia originates from. Popcorn Cassia is normally fairly low maintenance and quite easy to grow, as long as a level of basic care is provided throughout the year. Being aware of the basic soil, sun and water preferences will result in a happier and healthier plant.Helpful Reply
