DIY Large Wooden Dog Bed
I buy memory foam toppers when they are on sale and cut to fit for my dog bed fillers. You can use just the memory foam or a combination of memory foam and fiber fill. Either way, the dogs love it as it provides more cushion.
The dog bed that I made that has worked best for us was made of 2 old rectangular sleeping bags with broken zippers. I folded them in thirds, stacked them one on top of the other and sewed a cover that I could slide the sleeping bags into (like a big pillow case with a zipper) out of old jeans pieced together. The best part is that I can take it apart and wash it, then reassemble when dry. So many dog beds are not washable.
Fleece material and fiber fill, donut shape.
I took 2 large bath towels. I then sewed them together, about 3/4 way up on each side and across the bottom. I inserted 2 pillows, folded the ends over the end and tucked inside. Easy to remove pillows for washing cover.
You could also use a large hard shell suit case (1/2) install short feet and line with a pillow to fit. Another idea is to take a thrift store end table and turn it upside down remove legs and make a pillow to fit. A large dog crate can also serve a dual puppose of dog bed and end table
