Rather than what is current or "pops" at you in the paint section, pick something that relaxes you, makes you feel rested (even a little bored?). Look around your home or a public place. What do you rest your eyes on and breath easy when you look at it? Go with that. Blues and greens can be restful

Select a color you like. There are no "right" or "wrong" colors. Bright, bold colors are great in a bedroom if you like them!

I always start with an inspiration piece - a comforter, new curtains, etc. Once that is selected, I pick a paint color from within the fabric, or something that will complement it. It's a lot easier than picking a wall color and then trying to match the finishes.

Choose your comforter/quilt/bedding first. Really look around and choose something with colors that you really like or a pattern that catches your eye. Your comforter/bedding is the biggest "eye catcher" in your bedroom, so you want it to be something you really like since you'll be seeing it every time you walk in the room.

From there, you can choose a paint color and then add curtains to match. For example, I chose a quilt set that has a white background and medium grey and yellow pattern on it. I painted the bedroom walls a light grey (Agreeable Grey by Sherwin Williams) and hung darker gray grommet panels on the 2 windows. This color combo is warm and inviting and gives the room a rich look. I love it and have received a lot of compliments on it.
