I used to have the same problem in my old apartment, we used contact paper for a quick, easy fix but you can also put up a small curtain if you prefer- http://www.hometalk.com/diy/windows-doors/windows/how-to-use-contact-paper-to-make-a-beautiful-privacy-window-27632620
How to Use Contact Paper to Make a Beautiful Privacy Window!
Home Depot sells privacy film for windows that come in an assortment of patterns and you can cut it to the size of your window.
You can get glass etching and paint it on.
Easy, permanent and looks good forever.
Thanks
If you're artistic (or can use a stencil/template), glass paint gives you lots of options. It will need 21 days to dry permanently (before you can wash the window) - you can probably use a hair dryer to shorten that time. You can even get leaded tape to give it an authentic look.
I love Gallery Glass, you can find it in craft stores. Pick a pattern you like and let er rip. Flowers, birds, trees whatever suits your fancy.
get a hold of a contractor and have them evaluate for moisture damage. had a shower like that in my 1st 50's build. moldy walls inside of the framing and rotted studs near the window frame . window removed, exhaust vent in place, new wall. for natural light i put in a solar tube.
I still laugh.....a friend stayed over at my place t attend continuing education class. they thought the solar tube was on a light switch. wanted to know where i hid the switch. I had to break the news to them... if that light goes out we've got bigger problems than rush hour traffic!
gallery glass has a paint that goes on white but dries clear.you can see out but no one can see in.works well an can be removed.
I went to Bed Bath and Beyond and purchased a honeycomb paper window cover that you can cut to fit. It is opaque, can't see through it but light comes through.
