Looks great.. You could use any color in your faux stone would look great if it matches your room color.
I used Benjamin Moore's Galveston Grey on our fireplace brick and Ozark Shadows on the walls. A similar combination of two colors from your faux stone would be really pretty!
I would go with a dark grey! Question, where did you get your faux stone?
At Lowe's. they had all different paterns. these are used for floors, walls or fireplaces. our fireplace had slick white tiles on it when we bought the house. the man at Lowe's told us the adhesive to get and it sure worked good. Did this 2 years ago and its still good. very easy to do as well

What ever connects best with the rest of the room. I would discourage the same color as your walls. You want it to be a focal point. To stand out. The best of luck to ya.
I love the stone. My only suggestion would be to paint the fireplace screen. Maybe an all matte black, to do away with the brass trim.
another idea ,if you plan to place a picture or decoration on the mantle you could choose a color or two some them to tie in with your room and fireplace
