Butterbur sprout! It's actually flowers of butterbur. They sprout flowers first in the spring, then start growing leaves. Do you have Japanese butterber, FUKI, in your garden? It looks a lot like Japanese species. FUKI is very common herb/wild plant in Japan. I'm from Japan, and used to pick them around my house to make butterber sprout tempura! :)
