put out a cinnamon stick
Sprinkle cinnamon, spray essential oils of peppermint.cinnamon.lavendar.Make sure treatment is done outside.spray around windows and make sure there are no holes in the screens. Apply food grade diatomaceous earth around you perimeter of the house and if you see any mounds from ants poke a whole in there and pour the earth in the hole.
I've found the best way to control summer ants in my kitchen is to feed them. I put down a jam jar lid with a little home made orange cordial next to the ants' entrance and they don't go anywhere else in the house. not even the recycling bin
An exterminator told me to make a paste out of mint jelly and boric acid (powder), put in a zip lock bag and snip off the end (to use as a pastry bag). They're probably coming in through the electrical conduit for theoutlets (plugs) on an exterior wall. Take off the faceplate and squeeze a small dollup of the paste into the bottom of the box. DO NOT squeeze into the electrical slots--ONLY the box the outlet is in. The mint jelly attracts them and the boric acid kills them. This has always worked like a charm for me!
Search out their entrance spot. Put down one "Terro" Liquid Ant Bait. Follow directions; its pre-filled & ready to use. DO NOT move the bait once placed. They climb the little ramp, grab a snack of the liquid poison, march it back to their "mother house" feed it to their relatives, friends & the mother ant and EVERYBODY DIES!!! Works beautifully; just dont move the trap or place more than one. It confuses the little buggers ! KEEP AWAY FROM PETS & PROBABLY KIDS
Put down borax where you see the ants. But please no you must not let your animals or children near because Borax is not good for them at all. Please note you must not let your animals or children near The Borax as it is not good for them at all! Since the kitchen is used by everyone in the house, I would recommend putting it in cabinets or underneath edges of cabinets and a flat shallow dish tucked up out of the way.
use vinegar and water for cleaning counters, around window trim and outlet covers. vinegar naturally repels ants.
Use use bsit stations made for indoor aunts . Make sure you don't kill them by stepping on them sometimes can spread the colony depending on the type of Ain't .
I make a paste with confectioner sugar and water. Put it in a cap . They can not digest the sugar. May take few days but works for me in the past.
Apparently ants fall into two categories: Those who like protein and those who like sugar. For the protein, a mixture of peanut butter and borax made into little balls and placed where the ants are is supposed to work. For sugar, a jelly/borax mixture works best. Place the mixture on plastic wrap in a location near the ants. The jelly/borax mixture has worked for me every time. It takes about 3 weeks for the ants to disappear entirely. Some folks have good luck using plain cornmeal. The cornmeal is pet friendly at least; the borax mixture isn't. If pets are a concern, try doing a Google search on how to get rid of ants.
