there isn't that many, only maybe 12 stalks. but i could dig them p. do they need to rest? by that i mean leave them out of the ground for a while so they can go dormant?

do they need more sun? I also have some that never bloom, but they are in the shade much of the day. I leave them there for texture and color.

Fertilize with Miracle-Gro!!! They are starving for nutrients. The kind that comes in the box you mix with water. I had clay at the last house I lived , and had 2 huge clusters on each side of my porch, so I know they can thrive for you. They're just hungry lol! Then after they bloom, you can safely separate them and move them to other spots around your yard. I also just found out you can fertilize with epsom salts too! Just sprinkle some around the base of the plants. 🌼

wow, who would think of epsom salts for your plants? like i said this georgia clay is terrible but after i dig them up, move them, and seperate them i certainly will use miracle grow. that stuff work wonders. thanks so much for your help.

Just dig them up and divide them by half and replant. As one of your commenters said, they are probably overgrown. They grow like ginger undergrond and get bigger and compacted. Every few years or so, you have to dig them up and divide them . The shock of doing this to them encourages them to flower.

Iris bulbs roots need to be exposed part way.

They are planted too deep and will not bloom. The top of the tuber needs to be above ground or you can wait years until they push themselves up but in your clay that might take years. Replant so the tops of the tubers are exposed above the surface of the ground. They like full sun.
