When did you plant them? What soil was used? What light are they in?

I've had them for about two years and in standing planters that don't go very deep. They very full and flowering when I first potted them and now are pretty skimpy and few flowers. I used potting soil from the nursery and they are on an eighth floor balcony facing West. I get hot Florida sun about six hours every day and some light wind. I also attract lots of spider mites but they don't seem to bother these plants.
