I purchased a product called Mole Chaser. It takes 4 'D' cell batteries and emits a penetrating sonic pulse of 300 Hz, covering up to 9,000 sq. ft. Pets won't be affected by it. The noise is irritating to the moles and they move on. It's about 1 3/4" in dia. and you bury it in the ground with just the top showing so you can retrieve it to change the batteries. The batteries last 4 to 6 mos. So far, it's worked pretty good for me. They have them on Amazon. I got the P7901. Hope this helps.

Share your life w/a Cat! They will devote their dawn and dusk to catching them and dispatching them to mole heaven. Other then that - an expensive new lawn is in your future.

I feel for you as I have had the same problem in the past!..Yes, moles feed on grubs and other earth insects! First, eliminate food source by spraying yard with a heavy dose of Malathion!Keep in mind they will burrow under walls, sheds, and walkways where they can run to quickly for safety! Their tunnels are deep! They will usually burrow/feed in early morning and evening! Often if you go out at that time you will see the dirt moving as they move about!Grab your hose and begin flooding area from one end of tunnel, quickly move to other end, then work your way to center of tunnel keeping both ends well watered as you move in to middle! Flooding them out is the only way I found to rid them! Traps don't work! I always took my hand shovel and filled in the tunnels where possible, giving them more work to do and fewer escape routes! My dog was always there to scoop them up as they exited the tunnels, but I used a shovel to bang them when he wasn't around! They are very fast so work quickly!

Sometimes it would take many tries with the flooding technique, because of their intricate deep maze below, but eventually I managed to rid them (at least for another season)! On his own, giving credit where it is due,my dog sniffed out and dug up seven of them in just one season!..Good Luck!!

  • I take the live and let live approach, as I hate killing anything and will not use chemicals. Co existing is my mantra . . . Build or buy a windmill . . . Worked like a charm for me, plus cool garden art.

    • That is exactly what does it. The moles are in your yard because they won't tunnel under the railroad - too much vibration. If the vibrating is directly on top of them they move along. If your property is large you may need more than one. Works for any underground burrowing rodents. I tried trapping and caught one but those little guys are mean and nasty and frankly I didn't want to hurt them. Good luck!
