Sounds like an insect infestation.Spray the plants down with a horticultural soap.
You need to eliminate the cause of the missing leaves first, whether insect or mammal. Then some TLC to help the vine recover. New leaves should appear, along with blooms. After all this you should get cukes off it!
It is amazing the ability plants have to recover from adversity. Try to find out what ate the leaves and take care of them. Once gone, watch for reinfestation and enjoy your recovering fruitful plant. Good Luck!
