I've heard that planting mint can help keep ticks away.

    • Lavender - smells great, you can use the dried flowers in potpourri, and keeps ticks away!
    • Garlic - yummy for cooking, and keeps ticks (and many other critters) away!
    • Sage - also yummy for cooking, and keeps ticks away!
    • Mint - great for cooking, beverages (love it in iced tea!), keeping rodents away AND keeping ticks away!

Mint keeps ants away if planted near the foundation of the house. More importantly, keep wood and leaves out of your yard and flower beds as tics hide out in woodpiles and leaves left in flower beds etc. for up to five years before they start "ranging."

Be careful mint spreads like wild fire . Plant in containers and then in the ground.

Agree with the spreading. It will take over any area you plant it. Would try the containers in the ground like Dee Dee suggested.
