DIY Wall Mounted Wood Knife Rack to Save Space in a Small Kitchen
A great DIY knife holder is : find about 4 hard cover books, you can get them at your local thrift store. Glue them together & can even tie a neat looking ribbon of your choice around them, when all glued together. The knives slide easily between the pages. Makes for a great conversation piece and holds your knives :)
You can fill a box full of bamboo skewers...the knives will stick right down and be held..or even cheaper..Fill a wooden box full of rice...again the knives will be held in place.
I love the book idea Koli, haven't heard of that before now. I bought a wooden block knife holder at the local Goodwill store for about $1. Used it to hold knives that I already owned. If you sew, you could make a cloth knife holder using two different cloth placemats. Lay one mat over the other, leaving space for the handles to show, place knives onto mat. Mark sewing pocket lines. Cut off excess material. Bind cut edge. Sew along lines. Sew across bottom. Depending on how you want to display them, you can place in a drawer, roll into a tube and place in a decorated pot or tin, affix to a picture frame, hang from a tension curtain rod between two cabinets at a window, do a tent "A" frame and drape over it, etc. Gifted my church and relatives with a "lot" of knives that don't fit my hands.
