I use Malwarebytes Professional. They have a free one but is limited. I was able to get the pass and serial to make it full operational. I also use Registry Fix which is free. And Reg Cleaner which also is free. Not any single one anti-virus does it all. I like o use more than one program on a weekly basis.
Thank you so much!! Don't some programs interfere with others, or cause issues... how do you determine if they are all compatible and won't cause the computer to crash? I am afraid to get too many different programs downloaded in my system.
I am addicted to PCH games, but realize this leaves me vulnerable to trojens and viruses..; used to use Norton, but haven't paid for a better program and protection for awhile. Had some extreme issues and had to have my computer professionally "cleaned" end of last year; so I am paranoid, but still addicted.... currently using a paid version of AVAST.(?)
Avast is a good program. Keep it. As long as the programs aren't running at the same time there is no problem or conflict. I have Malwarebytes Pro running all the time. It catches what anti virus programs miss. A lot of adware, malware, worms, spyware, and trojans are masquerading as trusted games, music, photos, and/or webpages that bypass anti virus software. Reg Cleaner just cleans out the registry from anything you delete or files that no longer exist. Anytime you download something a small file goes into the registry to speed up loading it. Say you download a photo. A small file goes into registry so when you click on the photo it will load up quickly. When you delete that photo the file still remains in the registry since it is separate from the photo. Eventually the registry gets so full your computer slows down because anything you pull up has to go through the registry to load. When you had your computer professionally cleaned they more likely use a few programs to clean it, as I do. I had a friend who worked for Best Buy and he joked how much people paid to clean their computers and all they did was pop in a CD with anti virus, adware, malware, and registry cleaning programs. Most consumers don't know how to do it anyway.
Consumer Reports does a good job in evaluating them. But be careful - for example Norton does not support Microsoft edge, so you need to make sure that whatever you buy support the browser you want to use.

I use McAffee. Stay away from Norton.
