Do you have raised garden beds? We are going through the same thing with raised garden beds. I drove rebar into the corners and put pcv pipe over it. I then bought some plastic fencing that is 4foot high and wrapped around the gardens. It is keeping the squirrels and cats out of the gardens.
Buy some bubblegum at Costco and spread it around the yard. Keep your dogs and cats away. The squirrels will eat the bubblegum, they can't digest it, and good bye squirrels. No secondary kill as with many poisons.
Sounds a little cruel, but at least no cats or dogs are around in my condo. Just the damn squirrels. Where will they drop dead, lol!

Blood meal is a natural product many use for fertilizer.Yo can find it at Home Improvement stores down the chemical aisle. It has a nasty odor and known to aid in keeping critters way.
