If it hurts, maybe some indoor/ outdoor carpet or those interlocking foam squares.
A nice outdoor rug would look great and also be functional. You can typically find some great bargains at Big Lots and even Home Depot has some fairly low priced ones.
If it's wood you might try sanding it or a pressure wash.
